Good flight to Singapore

I booked a flight to Singapore for a vacation. The plane was nice and the staff were friendly. It was a long flight, but I got there without any issues. Pretty standard, really.

Decent value with a deal

I needed to book a flight to Sydney and was looking for a good deal. I ended up finding an early bird fare for an Economy Class ticket. The price felt pretty reasonable for such a long haul flight, especially compared to some other airlines I checked. The booking process on their website was straightforward enough, and I got my confirmation quickly. I felt like I got good value for what I paid, even if it wasn't the absolute cheapest option out there.

Comfortable, but a small delay

I recently flew Economy Class from Paris to Singapore. The flight itself was quite comfortable, the seats were decent, and the inflight entertainment system had a good selection of movies. The cabin crew were attentive and polite throughout the journey. My only minor gripe was that departure was delayed by about 45 minutes, which meant I had a bit less time for my connection. It wasn't a huge deal since my connecting flight was also with them, but it did make things a little more rushed. Overall, a solid experience, but they could improve on punctuality.

Thinking of upgrading my flight with KrisFlyer miles. Is it usually a good value, or am I better off saving them for a free flight?

R Rachel Moore 1 month ago
Depends on the route and how many miles. Sometimes an upgrade is really good value if you can get it for a long-haul. Short haul, maybe not so much.

I usually save mine for a flight, but if you have a ton of miles and see a good upgrade deal, go for it. Check the redemption rates, they vary.

Hey guys, thinking about booking a flight to Sydney for December. What's the deal with booking early for Singapore Airlines? Do they do early bird sales or should I wait closer to the date?

R Richard 2 weeks ago
Definitely early bird. I usually snag pretty good deals for year-end travel if I book like, 6-8 months out.

Yeah, they usually have some early bird stuff, especially for popular routes. Waiting until December is probably gonna cost you way more, prices tend to jump then.

How are returns handled if I need to cancel? Is it a nightmare or pretty smooth if I have a refundable ticket?

Z Zach R. 2 weeks ago
If it's a refundable ticket, usually pretty smooth. Just log into your booking and follow the steps. Had to do it once, got my money back within a week or so.

Refundable tickets are generally fine, just make sure you understand the terms when you book. Non-refundable is where it gets tricky sometimes.

Quick question about the Book the Cook service, is it really worth it? Like, is the food noticeably better than the regular inflight meals?

A Alex Jackson 1 month ago
Oh absolutely! It's a game changer, especially in business class. Much wider selection and way better quality.

Depends on the route and what you pick, but generally yes. Had a fantastic lobster thermidor once. Beats the standard chicken or beef for sure.

Considering Singapore Airlines for a trip to Tokyo vs Cathay Pacific. Is the service really that much better on SQ for economy, or is it splitting hairs?

J Jeff J. 1 month ago
SQ's economy is definitely a step up from a lot of airlines, even if it's still economy. Better food, IFE, and generally nicer cabin crew. I'd pick them over Cathay usually.

I think SQ edges out Cathay slightly for overall service, even in economy. But both are good! If the price is similar, I'd go SQ.
